Daily Fitness Tip: Post-run snacks

My musthaves:

Nuts
Chocolate milk
Whole wheat bread
Tuna fish
Cheese
Fruit
Raisins 


I look for something filling, yet healthy. I tend to crave protein and carbs after a good run. Just be sure to replenish properly because that is how the body recovers. Don't wait to eat more than two hours after running. It's too long for your body!

Ideally, you want to have a balanced meal. However, I usually can't eat too much after a truly long run so I munch on some of the above snacks until my body asks for something with more substance.

  1. Pineapple juice and pickle juice are also suppose to be good for post-run consumption!
