Just want to share with you all the beauty that is my local Farmer's Market! I wrote a post for Fitblogger about how much cheaper it is than buying produce at the supermarket.
So we went this past weekend to pick up some more goodies.
So we went this past weekend to pick up some more goodies.
I primarily like to pick up fruit. This weekend there were only apples and the last of the peaches from this season. I guess I'll stick to my frozen fruit if I want to eat anything else. But there are TONS of different kinds of apples! I had no idea.
I stuck with Pink Lady this time because I know they're good. My mom bought some Jona Gold. I haven't tried them yet but she says they are really sweet. I tend to like tart, firm, apples.
Don't they look delish! |
Of course I'll try them all at some point!
We also bought some pecans and raspberries on this trip.
Sorry, no pics of the pecans! |
Here's some more pictures to salivate over.
I'm not a fan of honey but I seriously wanted to buy some. |
NO idea what those are or how you'd eat them. |
You can also buy plants, flowers and herbs. We purchased some basil.
This is a fig tree. We also saw a pomegranate tree. Chema really wanted one. Maybe next time. :) |
Of course we can't forget about the pumpkins!
In short, I LOVE my Farmer's Market! Hope you enjoyed the tour!
Lol! That earlier picture containing the caption, "NO idea what those are or how you'd eat them!" - those are gourds and other types of squash. (Such as acorn and tiger pumpkin.) They can be baked, etc. Oh, and did you buy any kale? It's very tasty when sauteed with garlic, shallots and a bit of butter!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try kale for awhile now. So maybe next time we go I'll get some. Maybe one of those weird squash too!
ReplyDeleteHaahaa Yes.. I think those are Gourds! Funny :) Great Farmers Market, so full of colors and deliciousness!!! I can't believe you don't like HONEY!!!!!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteA pomegranate tree would be pretty neat to have.. I would love my own apple tree one day!
My favourite apples are gala and honeycrisp. And I love honey...local honey is actually supposed to help with allergies, too, since the honeybees gather nectar from local plants.
ReplyDeleteOh farmers markets cool!!
